What We Believe
Mission Statement
We seek to be a family of believers in Jesus Christ nurtured and guided by the Holy Spirit to be servants of God for the sharing of His Grace and to be a supportive community for all those in need.
What We Believe
United Methodists have traditionally proclaimed the following emphases:
• the availability of God’s grace for all
• the essential unity of faith and works
• salvation as personal and corporate
• the church as a community of Christ’s disciples who seek to share in God’s mission
• the inseparability of knowledge and vital piety as components of faith
• seeking holiness of heart and life both as individuals and in our society
• a cooperative ministry and mission in the world, often referred to as “connectionalism”
• the link between Christian doctrine and Christian living
How is baptism done in the United Methodist Church?
•Sprinkling is the traditional mode of baptism for The United Methodist Church,
but pouring and immersion are accepted as well.
•The United Methodist Church teaches that through baptism we accept God’s gift of grace through Jesus Christ, and yield our lives to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
•After baptism, one is received into the United Methodist membership by vowing to be loyal to the church and to participate in the ministries of this congregation through “prayers, presence, gifts and service.”
•Persons transferring from other Christian denominations have their baptisms fully accepted and honored here.
